Talk about computer artificial intelligence? It seems that Firefox has a feature which knows what certain pages are likely to be visited, so the browser downloads them immediately. The ones developing Firefox say that with feature enabled pages are displayed immediately when the user requests it. However this is waste of CPU and bandwidth and at the speeds of the Internet nowadays it's not very useful to have it turned on.
Here is how you can shut it down:
1. Open Firefox and type about:config in the address bar.
2. In the Filter field enter network.prefetch-next. You will see that this feature its set to true. Therefore double click it to change it to false.
3. That's all and you have stopped Firefox to have a mind of its own.
