How To Set Screensaver For Your iPod

The iPod is a combination portable digital media player and hard drive from Apple Computer. The original version was about the size of a deck of playing cards, with a monochrome screen and a 5 gigabyte capacity. iPods can be now be purchased with up to 80 GB of hard drive capacity and color screens capable of playing television shows, videos or movies uploaded from a PC. But did you know you can set a screensaver for your iPod? Here are the steps:

1. The screensaver is actually a video running in a loop, therefore you must have a 5th generation iPod.

2. Enable disk use. In iTunes version 7, you'll see the check box to do this in the Options area of the iPod view when it is connected. With this feature enabled your iPod will act somewhat like an external hard drive.

3. Now connect the iPod to your computer.

4. To show the content of the iPod, open My Computer and look for it in the list of drives. On a Mac, the iPod will appear in your Finder windows when it is connected. After finding your iPod open it.

5. Create a new folder in the root directory of the iPod called Demo Mode.

6. Copy any iPod-compatible video into this folder and rename the file demo.

7. The screensaver will begin playing in about 2 minutes after you eject the iPod (by clicking the little eject icon next to the iPod in iTunes) but leave it physically connected.
