The new Windows Vista consolidates AutoPlay options for various types of media into a single Control Panel applet. This applet allows you to change the AutoPlay settings for different media like CDs, DVDs, and pictures. Here is how:

1. Click Start -> Control Panel.
2. Find the AutoPlay icon and double click it.

3. Make sure you have the Use AutoPlay for all media and devices box checked.

4. Now you will have to take one by one all the drop down menus and set the default setting for each option you have there.

5. Click Save for your preferences to be saved. You are done!
