How To Restore Defaults For Windows Firewall

Windows Firewall is a personal firewall, included with Microsoft's Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Vista operating systems. There are situations when you need to reset your Windows Firewall settings, after removing a Trojan. This operation sets the configuration to factory defaults by removing all the programs, port, exceptions settings.

Follow the steps below to restore defaults for Windows Firewall:

1. Click Start -> Run...
2. Type in firewall.cpl and click OK.

3. Now go to the Advanced tab in the new window.

4. On the bottom of the page click the Restore Defaults button.
5. Click Yes when you are prompted if you want to continue.

6. The Windows Firewall is now turned ON, and set to factory default state.

Restoring the default settings will delete all settings of Windows Firewall that you have made since Windows was installed. This may cause some programs to stop working.
