Different effects, like crossfading and volume leveling can be applied to your Windows Media Player playlists, which create a better listening experience.
The thing crossfade does is to fade one song into one another. This effect is great at parties, weddings or other sort of reunions.
As for volume leveling, this effect makes sure the songs in your playlists are of equal volume. This is useful when you have the music on the computer from different sources, recorded at various degrees of loudness.
Below is how to enable both of them, the first being the crossfading effect:
1. Open Windows Media Player.
2. Right-click the Now Playing tab, point to Enhancements, and click Crossfading And Auto Volume Leveling. 3. Click Turn On Crossfading. 4. Move the slider to define how long you want the overlap to last.

To enable volume leveling requires a few extra steps. So follow these steps to add volume leveling and configure your computer to apply it to all music files:
1. Open Windows Media Player. 2. Right-click Library, point to Add To Library. Here add your files. 3. Click OK when the Media Player has finished searching for files. 4. Right-click the Now Playing tab, point to Enhancements, and click Crossfading And Auto Volume Leveling. 5. In the Enhancements pane, select Turn On Auto Volume Leveling. If volume leveling is already on, the option says Turn Off Auto Volume Leveling; if that's the case, don't do anything.
