System Restore is a component of Microsoft's Windows Me, Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems that allows for the rolling back of system files, registry keys, installed programs, etc., to a previous state in the event of a failure.         Create restore point

1. Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools and click System Restore.

Creating a system restore point before you load new or beta drivers for one of your peripherals can save you time and headaches if that driver happens to crash the system to an unbootable state. Some misbehaving applications can cause the same problem.
