Even though not so many Windows users know or use this shortcut, it is extremely useful allowing to access the PC's desktop in a single click. It is located in the Windows toolbar at the right side of the Start button, known as the Quick Launch.
In case you delete it my mistake, here is how you create a new one:
1. Open Notepad and type the following text on individual lines: [Shell] Command=2 IconFile=explorer.exe,3 [Taskbar] Command=ToggleDesktop 2. On the File menu, click Save As... 3. Select under the Save as type the All files option, then save the file to your desktop with the name Show Desktop.scf. 4. Use Windows Explorer to locate the following folders:
Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows 98 C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000, and Microsoft Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
5. Use the mouse to drag the Show Desktop.scf file to the Quick Launch folder. 6. Click Move Here.
Note: In case you do not have the Quick Launch activated, you can do this by right clicking on the taskbar and select Toolbars -> Quick Launch. There you have it!
