There are times when you want your computer to boot from the CD-ROM drive, like when installing a new operating system, or just boot directly from the hard drive without checking other possible boot drives, in this way making the boot time shorter with several seconds.
The boot order can be changed from BIOS and here is how to do it:
1. First you will have to enter the BIOS setup screen. Achieve this by pressing F2, Delete or the key specified at the POST screen.
2. In BIOS find where it says Boot and enter the sub-menu.
3. Select Boot Sequence and press Enter.
4. At this screen you can change the drive from which you want to boot first. In case you have a version of BIOS that has the menu something like First Device, Second device then you have to put the drive to boot from at the first device section. If this is not your case and all you see is a list of devices, then move the device you want to first boot from to the top of the list. This can be done with the change values keys. These differ from one BIOS version to another. However you should see which ones are somewhere on the screen.
5. After all the changes are done, press ESC to exit the BIOS. Make sure you select to save the changes you have made. The system will be rebooted and the effects will take place.
